Our Mission

The Sewanhaka Federation of Teachers Retirees (SFTR), formally organized as an active membership category within the SFT in 1999, works to improve the quality of life of its members through collective action and legislative change.

Public Policy and Legislation

• To communicate  information  to provide political awareness.

• To improve education through collaboration with current teachers.

• To encourage participation in political and social programs.

• To provide an arena to serve the educational community.

Legislative Priorities

• Permanent health care protection for retirees.

• COLA enhancement.

•  Tier 1b inequity elimination.

• Tier 1 reinstatement for retiree.

• Pension security.

Networking with Fellow Professionals

Members will have ongoing access to communicate and interact with each other as well as with  supportive organizations and services.
