BETRAYED AGAIN !!!!!
Anna Zurawinsky
Once
again, the A A R P has betrayed their senior members as they did
several years ago, if you recall the AARP along with President
Bush initiated the treacherous “Doughnut Hole” which currently
forces seniors to pay $4500.00 out of pocket for their
prescriptions. This past week the Wall Street Journal and the
Alliance For Retired Americans reported that the AARP supports
major cuts to Social Security benefits. I dropped my membership
during the Doughnut Hole fiasco because this organization did
not support seniors, indeed this latest news seems to confirm my
opinion. The ARA Executive Director Ed Coyle stated that the
AARP does not speak for all the seniors as well as many of their
members.
However, because of the AARP’s announcement there is an
immediate threat to our Social Security Plan as well as
Medicare. Legislators who wish to dismantle these plans are
elated and many legislative proposals are being introduced.
Senator K. Hutchinson (R-TX) is introducing legislation that
would present an immediate Social Security Cost of Living
Adjustment cut for current beneficiaries and would raise the
retirement age to 69 in 2016. B. Easterling, President of the
Alliance said that “we will continue to fight efforts to balance
the budget on the backs of our seniors while giving millionaires
tax breaks”.
What
you can do to protect yourselves :
-
If you
are an AARP member, inform them of your displeasure and
reconsider your membership
-
Contact your Congressional Reps and your Senators Schumer and
Gillibrand to stop the cuts to Social Security and Medicare
We must stand together and stop these
attacks on senior benefits or we will all fall into a disastrous
pit.
